Frequently Asked Questions

Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your device. Open the Carmtek app, and it will automatically scan for nearby devices. Select "Carmtek" from the list and tap "Confirm" to connect. The sensor should be powered on and within range (approximately 30 feet / 10 meters).
First, level your RV using your traditional leveling method (blocks, jacks, etc.). Then open the app, tap the calibration icon (target icon) on the home screen, confirm that your RV is in a level position, and tap "Sure". The sensor will save this as the zero-reference point.
The gauge uses a traffic-light system: Green means your RV is level (within 2.5 cm / 1 inch), Yellow means slightly off-level (2.5–7.5 cm / 1–3 inches), and Red means significantly off-level (over 7.5 cm / 3 inches). Adjust your leveling blocks or jacks until the gauge shows green.
The app supports 5 RV types: Class A, Class B/C, Travel Trailer, Fifth Wheel, and Hybrid/Pop-UP. You can select your type in Settings > RV Setup. Each type has different configurations for accurate leveling calculations.
Go to Settings > Device Setup. You can switch between Centimeters and Inches for length measurements, and between Celsius and Fahrenheit for temperature. The app will automatically convert your saved dimensions when switching units.
The app stores settings for one RV configuration at a time. If you switch RVs, go to Settings > RV Setup and update your RV type, width, and length measurements. You may also need to recalibrate the sensor for the new installation.
Ensure the sensor is powered on (check battery level). Make sure Bluetooth and Location permissions are granted to the app. Try moving closer to the sensor. If the issue persists, tap "Refresh" in the app to restart the scan. You can also try turning Bluetooth off and on again on your phone.
The Carmtek sensor provides high-precision tilt measurements. The app displays readings to two decimal places. After proper calibration, the system can detect level differences as small as 0.1 cm (0.04 inches).

Troubleshooting

🔌 Connection Issues

If you experience Bluetooth connection problems:

  1. Ensure the sensor is powered on and charged
  2. Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
  3. Verify the app has Bluetooth and Location permissions
  4. Move within 30 feet (10 meters) of the sensor
  5. Tap "Refresh" to restart the device scan

📏 Inaccurate Readings

If leveling readings seem incorrect:

  1. Recalibrate the sensor on a known level surface
  2. Check that the sensor is securely mounted
  3. Verify your RV dimensions are entered correctly in Settings
  4. Ensure the sensor orientation matches your settings

📱 App Performance

If the app is running slowly or crashing:

  1. Close other apps to free up memory
  2. Ensure you have the latest version of the app
  3. Restart the app and reconnect to the sensor
  4. Restart your phone if the issue persists

🔋 Battery & Power

If the sensor battery drains quickly:

  1. The sensor uses Bluetooth Low Energy for efficient power usage
  2. Check the battery indicator in the app regularly
  3. Replace or recharge the battery when the level is low
  4. Avoid leaving the sensor in extreme temperatures
